Chef Carl Sterling, The Herbal Chef, has always
had a great affinity for the kitchen. In his more than 25 year
career as an executive chef, Chef Carl has developed exquisitely
simple, delectable and wonderfully different recipes, utilizing
the fresh bounty of the herb garden.
It has long been Chef Carl's philosophy that good healthy cooking
can and should be accessible to everyone without the necessity
of spending hours preparing and slaving over a hot stove. To this
end he has spent many hours lecturing, giving demonstrations and
making personal appearances on television and radio to further
the cause of herbal cooking.
Over the years Chef Carl has made appearances on Dale Groom's
regular radio call in gardening show, The Plant Groom;
chat host Howard Garrett's organic garden show, The Natural
Way. He has also appeared on The Plant Groom television
series, seen in 1,599 markets around the country, and in an NBC
News series on airline industry food. Chef Carl has contributed
to articles in Condé Nast travel magazine and the
City of Dallas' monthly "D Magazine".
Chef Carl has been instrumental in designing the Cooking With
Herbs series for the Education Program 1996-97 semesters at El
Centro College, Dallas Texas and is currently the herbal advisor
to the Dallas Arboretum. The Herbal Chef has continued his promotion
of herbal cooking with presentations to the Fort Worth Herb Society,
The Texas Dietitians Association and The International Herb Growers
and Marketers Association. Chef Carl regularly gives cooking demonstrations
and classes at the Dallas Arboretum, North Haven Gardens and for
the Irving Public Library System. He also conducts regular cooking
classes at his Blue Cottage Herb Farm.
